COURSE DESCRIPTION:
In Advanced 2D the serious-minded art student will develop conceptual approaches to artmaking in a Big Ideas framework. Building on the foundation of experiences in Beginning and Intermediate 2D, students will explore the processes, concepts, issues and cultures of contemporary art in greater depth. Students at this level will be expected to work independently with discipline and self-directed goals. Students will evaluate their work and the work of others, and will identify areas of need in order to advance their own study. Students will research contemporary artists & methods & establish the work habits of professionals, while developing a personal philosophy of art. Students will continue to maintain a sketchbook, and will be asked to present work in a year-end exhibition and assemble an online process portfolio for a final assessment. NOTE: This class is taught at the same time as AP Studio and Portfolio Development. Some projects and activities may be done in collaboration
